The use of the proverbs in teaching French to the first-year students of linguistic university

This article offers a variety of methodological techniques for studying proverbs. These techniques are analogous to the game of playing cards. They are oriented for the first-year students of linguistic university. Proverbs can be used for morphological and semantic analysis. Their usage is aimed at motivating students to improve their speaking skills, to develop their imagination, to master language competence and expand their outlook.

Prospects for integration of classical forms of foreign language teaching in e-learning system Moodle: introduction to German phonetics

The article describes the prospects for the creation of e-learning phonetic introductory course using the capabilities of the virtual learning environment Moodle at the Department of German Philology at the St. Petersburg State University. The interest in the usage of electronic learning management systems is associated with the active introduction of new information technologies in the education system, including foreign languages teaching.  Moodle can be used to combine many methods in order to teach correct pronunciation of a foreign language, such as audio and / or video, transcription, additional materials. The article presents the initial phase of the project results.

Forming of student’s foreign language competence in implicit teaching based on virtual lab assignments system (VLAS)

The article deals with the problems to form foreign language competence of transport university student. The purpose of the article is to describe the ways of implicit teaching based on virtual lab assignments system in a foreign language.

The author is the VLAS developer at the Foreign Languages Department of Engineering University; puts forward a hypothesis that if the foreign language curriculum reduces auditorium time, the virtual lab assignments based on multimedia optimizes forming of students’ foreign language competence and motivates them to master a foreign language.
